The Adrian G. Marcuse Library has recently added Stylus to its suite of databases. Stylus describes itself as an innovation research and advisory firm that helps businesses process global consumer lifestyle, product and engagement insights, stimulating innovation and growth. It offers deep analysis of trends in a variety of industries, as well as consumer and marketing information, downloadable as PDF’s, Infographics and short videos This can then be utilized in LIM College undergraduate and graduate programs and courses such as Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Applied Concepts, Power of the Brand and Forecasting.
They explore trends across industries, demographics and behaviors to analyze where they influence and change each other, and provides a real world analysis of how a trends can be expected not only to sell products, but also influence and change existing trends and products.
As a librarian, I must also mention that their limiting of search results by category, subject and report type filter within the total number of retrievals listed is extremely helpful. This quickly brings a high degree of accuracy and sophistication to a basic search.
Lastly, Stylus will provide LIM College students many opportunities to attend their trend presentations. These events will add detail and to the reports, and give students an opportunity to ask questions of the forecasters and network with members of the fashion industry.
